Homemade pizza makes a great rainy day project!
DIRECTIONS
In a large bowl combine yeast, sugar, and warm water, stir until yeast is dissolved. Allow to rest for 5-7 minutes or until foamy. In a small bowl, combine flour, salt and garlic powder. Add oil to water mixture and gradually mix flour into water one cup at a time until a soft dough forms. Turn onto floured surface and knead for 3-4 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. Place in greased bowl, turning once to coat. Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hour. Punch down dough, divide in half. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Roll out to fit into two pizza pans, or 2 cookie sheets for square slices. Sprinkle pans with cornmeal. Press dough into pans, folding in any excess dough that hangs over the edges. Spread one cup of pasta sauce evenly over dough, top with 1 cup of mozzarella and sprinkle with one teaspoon of dried oregano. Bake at 400 degrees F or until crust is golden brown. Serve with a fresh green salad.
